Dubois County SWCD Programs

Hosted, sponsored and assisted with education activities, including Envirothon, Soil and Water Stewardship Week, Make a Splash with Project WET festivals, Dubois County Family Fest, Dubois County Food and Ag Day, 4-H Fair, Forestry Field Day, Livestock Watering Systems Field Day and presentations for school classes, YMCA and scout groups.  If interested in having the SWCD host, sponsor or assist in an event for you please contact the office at (812) 482-1171 Ext. 3

Dubois County SWCD Committees

The Dubois County SWCD has created three committees that are focused on areas of concern in Dubois County.  They have been developed  primarily for the education and promotion of conservation practices and workshops that will benefit us all.  These committees are always open for new members and suggestions.  If you feel that any of these committees are of interest to you please contact the Dubois County SWCD for more information.

LIVESTOCK

The livestock committee has been developed to address concerns within the county for the management and maintenance of livestock operations.  If you would like to join or want more information contact the SWCD office or Jack Welp.

FORESTRY

The Forestry committee is dedicated to promoting healthy forests and management practices.  For more information about joining this committee, contact the SWCD office or Jim Hochgesang.

SOIL EROSION

The Soil Erosion committee will concentrate on education and promotion of conservation systems and practices that reduce erosion.  If this would be a committee that you feel you could add something to, please contact the SWCD office or Alan Weyer.  

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) provides technical and financial assistance to eligible farmers to address soil, water, and related natural resource concerns on their lands in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner. The program provides assistance to farmers in complying with Federal and State laws, and encourages environmental enhancement.  To learn more click the link below or visit your local District.
