The Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District are proud to present multiple awards each year that highlight conservation efforts in Dubois County.
The Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year Award is awarded in memory of Otto J. Bauer. Not only was he a member of SWCD Board of Supervisors, he was an advocate for soil and water conservation.
The Earth Team Volunteer Award is awarded to an individual or group who has gone above and beyond in their volunteer role with the USDA/NRCS to encourage conservation, improve soil health, and benefit wildlife habitats locally.
The Forest Stewardship Award is awarded to a forestland owner who utilizes Best Management Practices to facilitate better forest health, which in turn prevents soil erosion and its negative impact on water quality.
The Friends of Conservation Award is presented to one of the many champions of conservation in the county. This individual is someone who helps the SWCD in their efforts to improve soil health and encourage others to do the same.
The River Friendly Farmer Award is presented to a local farmer who has gone above and beyond in their efforts to protect the lakes, rivers, and streams in Dubois County through utilizing conservation management practices on their farm. Watershed organizations also may nominate farmers for the award by submitting an application to a county SWCD.
