LET'S DIG

Local Education and Testing of Soils in Dubois County to Improve Gardens
LET'S DIG is a local working group dedicated to promoting soil health and best management practices to Dubois County growers and small farms through education and technical assistance. It is comprised of local partner organizations and individuals who are passionate about soil health.

Our group provides site visits and technical assistance, hosts soil health workshops, and established educational initiatives right here in Dubois County.

If you have questions, would like to see if you qualify as a grower/small farm, or are interested in increasing the health of your soil, contact our office!

Site Visits

An initial site visit is where a member of our local working group will meet with the producer/grower/landowner to discuss resource concerns, goals, and soil health opportunities. They will then take a soil sample that will be sent out for an analysis of organic matter, pH, nutrient levels, etc. This information is used to determine soil fertility and the optimum fertilizer requirements moving forward.

Technical Assistance

Our technical assistance visit is a follow-up with the producer/grower/landowner after the initial site visit. This is where the soil test analysis will be discussed and recommendations will be made to address soil health concerns and improve soil conservation practices.
